Captain Alfred Hartmann
Born 1947, married, three children, trained shipbroker and shipping businessman; training and seafaring time as a cadet with Norddeutscher Lloyd; course of study in Leer leading to the rank of master for deep-sea vessels of any size and any type; maritime experience as a nautical officer and captain in world wide trade; two-year stay in Japan as a supervisor for newbuildings, then as personnel officer in a shipping company; since 1981 a self-employed ship-owner in Leer with worldwide interests. Until June 2008 CEO of the Hartmann AG. Alfred Hartmann is a member of the Supervisory Board of TKMS Blohm+Voss Nordseewerke GmbH, a member of the advisory committee of the Commerzbank, the Norddeutsche Landesbank, the Deutsche Schiffsbank and Germanischer Lloyd. He supports the Maritime School in Leer, is a member of the advisory board of the Verband Deutscher Reeder (VDR), vice-chairman of the „Wachstumsregion [Growth Region] Ems-Achse e.V.“ and Chairman of the Hospiz-Stiftung Ostfriesland.

Dr Niels Hartmann
Born 1975, married, one child, studied business management at the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel, diploma in 2001, several traineeships abroad during his studies, amongst others in Philadelphia and Limassol. After that a professional stay in Sydney, Australia, and doctorate on the subject of national location factors for shipowning companies from the University of Kiel. He founded Hartmann Logistik GmbH in 2004. Dr. Niels Hartmann has been a member of the Hartmann AG Board of Directors since February 2007 and became its CEO in 2008. He is, amongst others, responsible for the strategic development of the Hartmann Group’s business and fleet and for organisational matters.

Michael Hoppe
Born 1964, married, two children, studied business management in Düsseldorf, already entrepreneurial activities during his studies, diploma in 1992, then launched his career as a controller. Since 1995 he has been in business management positions, with the Deutsche Post and Vodafone among others. He has been with Hartmann AG since December 2006, and member of the Board of Directors since February 2007. Michael Hoppe is responsible for all financially relevant areas, including participation control and risk management.
